POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Business Intelligence will be empowered to lead their engagements through the pre-sales cycle into the solution architecture phase and through the development and delivery phases. This is a senior level position at the company reporting directly into the CEO. There may be up to 40% travel with this position into such areas as Manhattan, New York or Greenwich, Connecticut. The ideal candidate will be excellent, through all situations, working directly with the client (soft skills), have deep hands-on experience architecting and developing database solutions (hard skills), have domain experience with the investment management domain (market experience), and have excellent project management skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Involvement into the pre-sales process, in particular listening and understanding what the client is asking for and what they need
- Managing expectations with the client throughout the project and doing so in a way that makes them happy
- Driving new business with the client, which may mean following up on meetings/emails/phone calls to
- Gather the appropriate details to write a comprehensive SOW for the client, and then comfort in walking the client through the SOW to the close of the business
- Building a rapport with the client and their people by coordinating lunches or drinks outside of the office and to get a better feel of how and where we can improve to make them even happier
- Managing and ensuring that only high quality work products (architectures, models, code) are being produced and released out of the BI division
- Come up with creative solutions to the client’s problem based on their size and budget
- Leading strategic consulting engagements with clients whereby you will perform a top to bottom analysis of their strategy, architecture, code, etc

- Deep hands-on experience in data warehousing, data modeling, performance tuning, etc
- Experience working on the front-lines with customers and navigating through tough situations
- Leading the creation of a solution for the customers that works for them but is also a solid solution all around
