POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented SQL Database Developer to work within our Quantitative Solutions Development team. The ideal person will have substantial database development experience, supporting complex quantitative data research systems, involving vast amounts of data for analysis within the financial world or within a technical product company, focused on quantitative data research development. The DB Developer for Quantitative Solutions will lead the db development of a new product that will help quants abstract away the mechanics of preparing data for analysis thereby helping them to focus on the fun part of the business, developing models!
REQUIREMENTS
- Educational background (BS or MS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or other technical discipline.
- Strong database development experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, GreenPlum, Vertica, or Teradata.
- Exposure to financial research activities including, but not limited to: security master, vendor data management, forecasting tools, portfolio optimization, risk management, stock selection, etc.
- Familiarity with data provider such as: Bloomberg, CompuStat, FactSet, Thomson Reuters and/or other financial products/platforms.
- Basic understanding of security analysis, accounting concepts, financial products or OTC derivatives a major plus.
- Proficiency with C# or Java and ideally with statistical analytical packages such as Matlab, R, SAS, or Stata is highly desired.
- Ability to discuss and explain involved concepts in both verbal and written form, including the ability to serve as an effective liaison between technical and non-technical groups.
